Why did the chicken cross the road?
December 6, 2009
One of my favorite places to get a chuckle is the Cold Water Cafe. Roger Fields, founder & president of KidZ Blitz, writes great stuff - some relevant and meaningful to ministry, and some just plain funny. Here’s Roger’s list of answers to the question “Why did the chicken cross the road…according to various church staff members?” Enjoy!
- CHILDREN’S PASTOR To volunteer for children’s ministry.
- MUSIC MINISTER To join the choir in time for the Christmas musical.
- MINISTER OF PASTORAL CARE We don’t forbid nor condone road crossing but we do have home groups for chickens traumatized by road crossing.
- MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR Nobody told me I’m going to have to clean up after chickens.
- SENIOR PASTOR To give an offering, but if it is just visiting we don’t want it to be under any obligation.
- PASTOR’S SECRETARY Did it have an appointment to cross that road?
- CHURCH ADMINISTRATOR The chicken apparently did not read the memo forbidding any road crossing without my prior approval.
- CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD What committee approved this road crossing? Where will the money come from for all this unnecessary road crossing? Do I have a motion to stop unauthorized road crossing?
- GUEST EVANGELIST To be a partner with the ministry God has put on my heart.
- CHURCH SECRETARY I didn’t give my permission for some chicken to cross the road?
- YOUTH PASTOR What chicken? What road? If any chicken did anything improper I can assure you that I do not approve of it. It was properly supervised the entire time. However, we must realize that we live in a time when chickens sometimes do things they shouldn’t. I will talk to the chicken. This won’t happen again.
Roger recently announced another one of his projects, the Children’s Ministry Expo! See more of Roger’s writings and resources here.
