Most Important Post

The most important message I could ever give to anyone reading this blog is the message of how God loves you.  As a child of only 7 years old I came to this realization one Sunday night.  At the end of a church service I spoke with my Sunday School teacher and he told me something that shaped my life forever…in fact, shaped my entire eternity.  He told me the message of God’s love that provided an eternal gift for me!

You see, the Bible says that God loves us so much that our very days were known by Him before the foundation of the world (Psalm 139:16)!  He knows the numbers of hairs on my head.  He wants a relationship with me – just like anyone who loves someone else.

But there was a problem…I’m a sinner, and God is holy.  The Bible says the penalty for my sin is death (Romans 6:23a), or separation from God.  My sin keeps me from having that relationship that He wants and I need.  It’s like being stuck on one side of a canyon, while God is on the other, with no way to get across to Him.  Because of my sin, I was separated from that relationship He so freely wants to give me.

But because God loves me, He provided a way to still have the relationship with Him.  He sent Jesus to take my punishment for me.  Jesus died in my place, and I had the opportunity to have my sins forgiven, to have the separation eliminated. This is described as God’s gift to me (Romans 6:23b), like someone offering to take a spanking for me when I was a kid (hmmm, but that never happened!).  As with any gift, I have the option of accepting it or not.  Scripture says we accept the gift of eternal life and the relationship God wants with us when we believe in our hearts that Jesus died on the cross for us (John 1:12).

I did that when I was 7 years old.  I prayed with my Sunday School teacher, simply telling God that I believed Jesus died for my sins, thanking Him, and accepting the gift of eternal life He was offering.  I began my relationship with God that day as part of His family.  It’s the most amazing experience I will ever have, and it lasts a lifetime…indeed, an eternity.

If you would like to know more about what it means to have a relationship with God, I’d love to talk to you.  It’s so important, in fact, and I would be so anxious to talk to you, that I would invite you to call me personally at 619-456-9675 (you can also reach me through the contact form).

I don’t know what I’d do without my relationship with God.  He loves me more than I could ever describe, and He loves you too!  I hope you know Him.  If not, please call!
